The long-running production GEAR – Non-Verbal Theatre, currently being staged at its dedicated theater in Kyoto, has reached a major milestone today, Thursday, September 11, 2025, with its 5,000th performance at 2:00 p.m.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again express our deepest gratitude for your continued support.

5000回公演に寄せて

ギアが伝えたいコンセプトは「バランスと調和の大切さ」であり、テーマは「AI時代に問う、人間とは何か」という考察です。
AIが人の能力を凌駕し、大きな社会変革が急激に進んでいます。
そして、人間の存在意義、人間の本質が問われる時代が到来しています。
ギアはその問いを、ノンバーバル（非言語）に展開する物語という形で、皆様と一緒に考えていきたいと思っています。
人が人たる所以は何なのか？
人とAIは共存していけるのか？
ギアは単なるエンターテイメントではなく、人間社会の豊かな未来を願う、世界に向けたメッセージであり続けたいと思っています。

Message on the Occasion of the 5,000th Performance

The core concept of GEAR is the importance of balance and harmony, and its theme is a reflection on “What does it mean to be human in the age of AI?”
As artificial intelligence surpasses human capabilities and rapid social transformations unfold, we are entering an era in which the very significance and essence of human existence are being questioned.
Through the medium of a non-verbal theatrical narrative, GEAR seeks to explore these profound questions together with our audience.
What is it that truly defines us as human?
Can humanity and AI coexist?
GEAR aspires to be more than entertainment: it strives to serve as a message to the world, expressing our hope for a richer and more humane future.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us in reaching this 5,000-performance milestone.
